Early Learning

The early years of learning are the foundation of your child’s learning and we recognise the importance of offering a safe, inclusive and enriching learning environment. Our Early Learning classes provide opportunities for children to grow and challenge themselves through play and hands-on learning experiences. Our programs are designed around the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Western Australian Curriculum. They are also guided by the Child Safe Organisations National Principles. Our focus on community involvement has created an inclusive culture within our school as we work closely with families to support our students in their learning. The Early Learning Centre’s buildings are fully enclosed and include classes from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2.

Our Early Learning classes start with a Pre-Kindergarten program for three-year olds, which runs twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00am – 3:00pm. The children’s social and emotional development is nurtured, as they begin to experience school life. The school day follows a similar structure to our full time classes and learning is focused on the foundational skills to support our children in their learning and development in future years.

Our Kindergarten program runs three days a week and operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The EYLF guides our practice as we facilitate engaging play-based learning experiences. The children are supported to develop key skills and knowledge through experiences created around their interests and current understandings.

Our full-time classes include Pre-Primary, Year 1 and Year 2. These classes run from Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 3:15pm. Our programs are developed around both the EYLF and the Western Australian Curriculum. The Early Learning teaching staff have a passion for supporting the growth and development of our children in the early years of their lives. We facilitate experiences which allow students to grow and develop whilst also building on their strengths.

Primary School

In the primary school we have excellent staff who, alongside our supportive parent body, help enhance the exciting opportunities in learning. Immaculate Heart College provides a comprehensive and holistic education in all Learning Areas, providing and tailoring learning opportunities for all children in order to ensure they are able to achieve their full potential.

The College also provides a strong Sacramental program, offering weekly Mass to its students as well as rich and varied learning opportunities in areas such as sustainability and environmental studies (including onsite vegetable gardens, chickens and worm farm), Instrumental Music Tuition, Information Technology, Greek Language and Culture Studies and access to a variety of sporting pursuits.

Secondary School

Immaculate Heart College has now progressed to Year 12 in 2021. The students have opportunities in the following Learning Areas:

  • Science and Mathematics
  • English and Humanities and Social Science
  • Theology
  • Latin
  • Design and Technology
  • Physical Education
  • Outdoor Education

At Immaculate Heart College, Years 7 to 10 are all about transition. Students are going from primary school to secondary school; from young boys and girls to young men and women. Our curriculum is designed to support students as they go through this period of change. There is a breadth of academic activities to engage students in their learning and enable them to explore a diversity of offerings. This allows students to make decisions on future subject selections based on their own experience and interests.

We are currently taking enrolments for Year 7-12.

Electives

At Immaculate Heart College, our secondary students, from Years 8 -10 have the opportunity to contribute to the content of their own timetables by selecting from elective subjects at the College. Please see the documents below for more information.
