College Board of Directors

The College Board of Directors is the governing body of Immaculate Heart College. Its role is to help the College fulfil its educational responsibilities; ensure that the Catholic ethos of the College is maintained; manage the College Finances; develop the Strategic Plan; develop policies together with the Principal, and be supportive of the Principal.

The Board of Directors are:

FATHER PAUL FOX

Fr Paul Fox – Chair of the Board of Directors and co-founder of Immaculate Heart College.

Qualifications – Bachelor of Theology, St Thomas Aquinas University, Rome (Magna Cum Laude) 1998. Accountant and former Management Accountant, State Government.

Experience – Fr Paul is a Founding Director and had the vision of establishing a Catholic College in the Parish for many years. He has been a driving force in promoting and growing the College since its inception. In addition to his role on the Governing Body, as College Priest he attends to the spiritual needs of students and staff. He has overseen the development of the College from humble beginnings to a full Pre-Kindergarten to year 12 College in 2021. As a Director he has worked closely with AISWA, the Education Department and Principal in preparing Funding Applications for College construction and overseeing the budgets. He has been very active in the Parish in the construction of two new Churches including the Divine Mercy Church. As College Priest and member of the Governing Body he has been able to provide spiritual guidance and help ensure that the College fulfils its mission as a faith-based College, striving for academic excellence.

DORIS ANASTASIADES

Doris Anastasiades, Director and Co-Founder of Immaculate Heart College.

Qualifications – BA in Psychology

Although her children were born in Perth, Doris is originally from Tasmania. She taught in primary schools for many years in Tasmania, London and Western Australia, and later, when in Perth, began her own business teaching piano. Many of her students successfully sat for AMEB music exams at UWA and enjoyed performing in concerts at UWA and other venues. In 2010 she met Fr Paul and Jim Howe, and shortly after that, they began the process of establishing a school at Lower Chittering which was part of Fr Paul’s Parish. They decided to call the school Immaculate Heart College and to dedicate it to Our Blessed Mother; it was opened in 2012. Doris and Fr Paul set up the Company called Immaculate Heart College Limited, which is a Company Limited by Guarantee, the members of whom are the owners of the College. Apart from her teaching and music qualifications, Doris has a BA in Psychology.

ANNE CULLENDER

Qualifications – Dip. Teach, B. Ed, Master Religious Ed.

Positions held: Primary Education Teacher, Principal of Star of the Sea Catholic College Carnarvon, Star of the Sea Catholic School Rockingham, Billiliuna Catholic Education Centre Billiluna. Senior School Evaluator and Registration officer for the Education Department of WA, responsible for re-registering Non-Government schools in WA. Regional Director for the Geraldton Catholic Education Diocese covering 11 schools.

Anne has been employed by the Catholic Education Office of WA for over 45 years, and during that time, she has held several senior positions as listed above. Towards the end of her career, Anne filled in at Immaculate Heart College Lower Chittering as both a relief teacher and a Year 4 teacher. Anne has been on Catholic School Governing Boards, one at Immaculate Heart College, and one at Bindoon Catholic Agricultural College (Edmund Rice College). For three years, she ran the Aboriginal Education Department for Catholic Education WA, covering such areas as curriculum development, funding sources and the employment and development of Aboriginal Teaching Assistants.

ANGELA EVANGELINOU-YIANNAKIS

Qualifications – The University of Western Australia; BA, GradDipEd, MEd (Hons), EdD.

A secondary school teacher of English and Languages (Greek and French), Angela has been in the profession for over 40 years, teaching in all tiers; primary, secondary and tertiary. She has been a teacher and leader in the independent sector since 1994, including being the Director of Greek Studies, Senior School Coordinator, Assistant Principal and Acting Principal of St. Andrews Grammar during her 17 years at the school.

Angela was the Foundation Principal of Immaculate Heart College from 2012 to 2016. Currently, Angela is the WA Regional Lead for Australian Catholic University and Teach for Australia. She is also a Unit Coordinator and Lecturer of Master of Teaching and Master of Education units at the Graduate School of Education, UWA. Angela joined the Board of Directors in January 2021.

PETER HEWITT

Qualifications – BSc, Diploma of Education

Peter is a retired high school teacher and public servant with experience relevant to education and administration. Parent of three, grandfather of three. Wanting to contribute to the most important investment our society can make – our children!

EMMA WALCZAK

Qualifications – LLB, BiCT, FCIS

Emma has had significant experience as a lawyer and company secretary for the last 14 years. Emma spent the first part of her legal career working in a commercial law firm before moving to an in-house legal role at a corporate advisory firm. In that time, Emma obtained valuable experience and expertise in various commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, IPOs, intellectual property, commercial contracts, corporate governance and advising ASX-listed companies. Emma is the principal of her own firm, Trinitas Legal, where she has continued her commercial law career for a number of small- to medium businesses in varying industries such as agriculture and education.
